Our Story

I started Design With Refinement with one simple belief: your home should support you—not stress you out. As a designer, problem-solver, and calm guide in the chaos, I help clients like you create spaces that are not only beautiful, but beautifully livable.

Whether you’re relocating, refreshing a family home, or just tired of feeling “off” in your space, I bring a curated eye, a streamlined process, and a whole lot of clarity to the journey. And behind the scenes, you’re supported by more than just me—I work alongside a trusted team of designers, drafters, and skilled tradespeople so every decision is guided and every detail is handled with care from start to finish.

Meet the Founder

Hi, I’m Refinement (yes, it’s my real name) — founder of Design With Refinement.

With a background in project management and design, I bring calm structure to the creative process—so your home feels beautiful and works effortlessly for real life.

I’m also deeply committed to community. I’m active with the Interior Design Society’s Portland chapter and served on the Pacific Northwest Leadership Council for Children’s Cancer Association (JoyRx). I’ve spent years volunteering with organizations that support kids and families, and I’ve had the honor of serving as Chair of the Ambassador Board for the local chapter of CASA for Children. And closer to home, I’m a troop leader for my youngest daughter’s Girl Scouts troop.

When I’m not designing, you’ll find me at an estate sale or vintage shop, scanning national auctions for one-of-a-kind pieces, or getting inspired on a hike with my puppy and youngest daughter.
